Piazza Umberto I
The square is the center of every town or village in Italy. The Piazza is surrounded by four-story homes and is a short distance from the water. In 1900, the square established itself as the hub of community life by hosting produce markets for fresh vegetables, fish, and meat.
In 1938, a young islander named Raffaele Vuotto put a few tables outside his bar in the Piazzetta. From then on, the square became a popular place for islanders and visitors to meet. Before that, people socialized at home or in hotels on the island.
The square is covered in numerous inscriptions. For instance, two marble plaques outside the town hall depict Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I, while another plaque honors the Caprese Gennaro Arcucci, a martyr of the Bourbon restoration.
The Piazza has a general store, cafe, bar, restaurants, and barbers. You can see the beach, fishing boats, and the sea beyond through an arcade to the side.
Atrani’s Piazza Umberto I is one of those things that simply always stays in style.
Spiaggia di Atrani Beach
Spiaggia di Atrani, located 13.7 kilometers from Salerno’s downtown, ranks sixth among the 141 beaches in the Salerno area. Located about 0.2 kilometers from the heart of the Atrani village, this beach is one of several areas.
The wide, sandy beach is excellent for kids. Atrani’s breathtaking coastal scenery will take your breath away, no matter where you are on the beach or in the direction you look. The pristine Mediterranean blue of the sea and sky highlights the beach. There is also a car parking space, and walking there from the town is simple.
A tiny section of public beach is complimentary, while most of the beach space is taken up by concessions that rent out umbrellas and lounge chairs.
Part of the beach is reserved for exclusive beach clubs. Vacationers are the only ones who can use the beach facilities. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, a restaurant, lockers, showers, and restrooms are all on their list of amenities. During the summer months, a lifeguard patrols this section of the beach.
Santa Maria Maddalena Chuch in Atrani Italy
The college church was built in 1274 on the site of a medieval stronghold at Atrani’s instigation. It is dedicated to Saint Alessandrini, who saved the locals from a small group of invading Norman sailors in the early 1100s. Atrani, rei has sided with the Pope in the conflict between the Pope and the empire, and thus the sailors had come to the village to punish them.
The nave’s interior is embellished with authentically Baroque religious art and arches. You must attend the Santa Maria Maddalena Festival if you are in Italy in July. The event is placed on July 22 at Atrani.
In honor of St. Mary Magdalene, who, according to history, defended the town from a pirate raid, the entire population of Atrani takes to the streets for a festival in the middle of the summer. A picture of the saint is taken from the church to the seashore in a solemn procession, with music provided by a local band. Fireworks light up the sky over the ocean as bells ring out in the tower, signaling the start of a night of celebration.
